PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Providing access to the Rockaway region of Queens, both the Marine Parkway Bridge and the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge are integral to the daily commutes of nearly everyone residing in the diverse area situated along the ocean. Amaracon partnered with Unicorn Construction to perform concrete and asphalt sampling and testing on both bridges connecting The Rockaway Peninsula to Brooklyn and Howard Beach to Rockaway Beach (sequentially). In just its first year of operation the Marine Parkway – Gil Hodges Memorial bridge, as it is officially known, saw 1.7 million passenger vehicles in 1938. Today that number has only increased as with the Cross Bay Bridge, which is why their structural integrity is vital to their continuing access to the Rockaway neighborhood of Queens, NY.
